Role overview
This position is for a clinical psychologist who will use established psychological theories and evidence-based approaches to assess and treat emotional, mental, behavioral, and cognitive difficulties. The role sits within an interdisciplinary care team and involves delivering detailed assessments as well as psychological interventions for patients with complex needs.
Core clinical duties
- Carry out specialist psychological assessments and arrive at diagnoses by carefully combining information from tests, rating scales, observations, interviews, and input from patients, families, and other caregivers.
- Prepare clinical formulations and produce detailed written reports based on assessments and testing.
- Translate assessment findings into tailored psychological input, recommending and delivering treatment plans for emotional, behavioral, and learning-related concerns across different care settings.
- Apply a range of psychological interventions, refining formulations and working with multiple explanatory models and provisional hypotheses as needed.
- Deliver interventions grounded in evidence and clinically proven methods.
- Assess treatment options by considering both therapeutic theory and complex developmental and historical factors affecting the patient.
- Review medical records and related documentation to deepen understanding of each case.
- Offer specialist advice, consultation, and guidance to other professionals involved in diagnosis, formulation, and treatment planning.
- Provide individual and group therapy in varied settings, ensuring that patients and families are actively involved in the care plan where appropriate.
- Protect confidentiality for all information received or shared during patient care.
- Help define, strengthen, and implement best practices and standards for clinical psychology services.
- Maintain accurate, thorough clinical records and high-quality report writing.
- Carry out other related tasks and duties as assigned.
- Support the establishment, organization, and day-to-day functioning of Naufar clinical services.
Teaching, development, and service improvement
- Contribute to and lead psychology-based in-service learning and professional development activities.
- Design and implement initiatives that evaluate and improve Naufar services.
- Help train multidisciplinary team members, both clinical and non-clinical, so they better understand psychology and psychological strategies that improve patient care.
- Keep current with developments in psychological treatment and adapt clinical practice to reflect evidence-based care.
Supervision and reporting
- Provide clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, trainees, and students.
- Take part in weekly individual and group supervision, with focus on case formulation, professional growth, ethical practice, personal development, and performance review.
- Update the supervisor on progress and outcomes related to agreed projects and professional goals.
- Submit a monthly progress and activity report in line with the relevant requirements.
Qualifications, licensure, and experience
- Essential academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
- A Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
- A Ph.D. in Psychology is required.
- Applicants must hold a valid primary license from their country of origin as a clinical psychologist, counselling psychologist, or psychotherapist.
- Candidates must be eligible for licensure from the Qatar licensing authority to practice as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Up-to-date continuing professional development in relevant clinical or counselling psychology areas is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in clinical psychology is mandatory, including 2 years of relevant work in addiction or substance abuse disorders.
- Experience working across mental and physical health disciplines is mandatory.
- Previous work involving personality disorder treatment and/or post-traumatic stress disorder is mandatory.
- Advanced clinical skills in both residential and ambulatory patient care are required.

This role is based in Doha, Qatar, and is a full-time, onsite position.
