Role Summary
Durabuilt Windows & Doors is seeking a dependable Class 1 Truck Driver for its Shipping team. The position focuses on safe, punctual, and professional product delivery, along with customer service, tractor-trailer operation, inspection routines, logbook completion, and compliance with transportation and safety rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Split time roughly equally between driving and physically unloading product with support from a shipping assistant.
- Transport company goods securely and on schedule.
- Operate a Class 1 tractor-trailer unit.
- Unload materials throughout the day with help from a swamper.
- Make sure cargo is properly secured before transit.
- Keep a full set of chains and a working chain repair kit on the vehicle.
- Use the Delivery Photo App to capture live proof of delivery for every shipment.
- Maintain complete and current logbooks; carry records for the previous 14 days for inspection.
- Obtain customer signatures on-site, or note the delivery date, time, and initials when no one is available.
- Remove all snow from the shipping yard load before leaving Durabuilt’s yard.
- Finish the daily trip sheet.
- Keep clear communication with customers, dispatchers, and managers.
- Wear required personal protective equipment at all delivery sites.
- Carry out pre-trip and post-trip inspections, safety checks, and a Field Level Risk Assessment before starting work, with the swamper informed and the assessment signed.
- Complete all tasks in line with Durabuilt’s safety program and department procedures.
- Report unsafe site conditions immediately to the dispatcher and site contact, then wait for direction.
- Escalate health, safety, and environmental concerns to the supervisor or HSE coordinator and suggest practical solutions.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience driving a tractor-trailer combination.
- Experience with Moffat equipment is considered a strong advantage.
- Proven safe driving ability and a courteous, professional approach with customers.
- Working knowledge of basic safety rules and transportation regulations.
- Familiarity with motor vehicle operation and maintenance practices.
- Understanding of the territory covered by the role.
- Ability to perform physically demanding unloading work during the day.
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and in varied workforces.
Education and Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Class 1 License.
- Air Brake Endorsement Certificate.
- WHMIS certification.
- Standard First Aid is an asset.
