Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site position for a Child Protection Case Worker based at Shepherds Voice Nursery and Primary School in Fujairah Emirate, United Arab Emirates. The role focuses on recognizing, evaluating, and responding to child protection concerns within the school environment. The selected candidate will maintain detailed case documentation, carry out risk assessments, build and follow safety plans, and coordinate with school personnel, families, and outside agencies to safeguard children’s welfare. The position also includes monitoring student well-being, guiding staff on safeguarding practices, leading awareness sessions, ensuring alignment with local child protection regulations and school policies, taking part in multidisciplinary meetings, escalating concerns through the proper channels, and helping foster a culture grounded in prevention, dignity, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and respond appropriately to child protection concerns arising within the school community.
- Assess risk, create safety plans, and put protective measures into practice.
- Keep accurate case files, records, and supporting documentation.
- Work with school staff, families, and relevant external bodies to support each child’s safety and welfare.
- Monitor student well-being and follow up on emerging concerns.
- Advise and support staff on safeguarding procedures and child protection protocols.
- Deliver awareness sessions and contribute to prevention-focused initiatives.
- Ensure actions and reporting align with local child protection requirements and school policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions and case coordination meetings.
- Report concerns through the school’s established safeguarding channels.
- Promote respectful, preventive, and confidential handling of all sensitive matters.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Prior experience in child protection, social work, counseling, psychology, or a similar field, ideally in an educational environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a related subject.
- Working knowledge of child protection best practices, safeguarding processes, and legal or regulatory frameworks in the United Arab Emirates, or a willingness to learn local requirements.
- Strong ability in case handling, documentation, and report preparation, with a high level of accuracy and ethical judgment.
- Capability to assess risk, prepare safety plans, and make sound decisions under pressure while keeping the child’s best interests central.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for working with children, families, teachers, leadership teams, and external agencies.
- Empathy, cultural awareness, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries in sensitive or distressing situations.
- Training or certification in child protection, safeguarding, trauma-informed practice, or crisis response is an added advantage.
- Strong English language ability; Arabic or other locally spoken languages are beneficial.
- Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to training, outreach, and policy development.
