Company Overview

Google and Blackstone have joined forces to create an AI cloud platform focused on Google’s Tensor Processing Units, or TPUs, with the goal of delivering highly efficient, dependable, and high-performance compute infrastructure. This initiative is among the earliest large-scale external commercialization efforts for Google’s TPU assets, which have been developed over more than ten years.

Google’s TPUs have already been used at scale to train and run many leading frontier AI models, including major models from Google and Anthropic. Strong market demand for TPU compute continues to be signaled by leading AI companies such as Meta and Anthropic, including publicly announced commitments worth many billions of dollars.

The platform will deploy and manage AI computing clusters and connected services for customers such as hyperscalers, frontier AI labs, sovereign customers, and other major enterprises and AI technology firms. The joint venture will build deep internal capability in sourcing and developing data center and power capacity, designing and deploying TPU clusters, creating the software needed to run and monitor those clusters, and supporting customers successfully.

TPU Co will be built in close collaboration with Google, giving it differentiated access to TPU supply, technical know-how, and infrastructure support. Blackstone will contribute billions of dollars in equity capital, creating exceptional access to capital at scale. Together, these advantages position the company to expand capacity quickly and help define the next benchmark for AI infrastructure.

The company will work closely with Google and its customers, many of whom are expected to be among the world’s leading AI and technology companies, to build custom, world-class infrastructure that supports the next wave of AI innovation.

Executive Team

TPU Co will be led by CEO Ben Treynor Sloss, who spent more than 20 years at Google in technical and infrastructure leadership roles. He founded Site Reliability Engineering, which is now the industry standard for operating large-scale infrastructure systems, and most recently worked directly with Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian on TPU commercialization.

Ben brings deep expertise in AI infrastructure, along with long-standing credibility and relationships across Google’s senior leadership and customer ecosystem. He has been involved since the company’s inception and has played a central role in shaping the partnership.

The Role

As Chief Operating Officer, you will be accountable for building the company’s full corporate and business operating foundation so the organization can scale quickly from day one while preserving operational discipline, cost control, and institutional quality.

• Build the business infrastructure from the ground up by establishing all G&A functions, including HR, Finance, IT, Facilities, and Procurement, using a phased model that starts with third-party support such as a PEO for HR, an MSP for IT, and outsourced Finance and Operations partners, then transitions over time toward an AI-first corporate operating model.
• Choose, onboard, and oversee the complete network of external vendors and subcontractors needed to run the company.
• Own the internal operating environment and technology stack used by employees, including productivity software, collaboration systems, IT infrastructure, facilities, and related tools.
• Design the talent acquisition engine, organizational structure, role definitions, onboarding, and enablement systems so the business can expand efficiently without sacrificing speed.

Desired Experience and Skills

• Hands-on experience creating and scaling G&A functions such as HR, Finance, IT, and Facilities with the support of third-party providers.
• Strong background in vendor evaluation, onboarding, and ongoing management.
• Experience recruiting and building core corporate teams across Finance, HR, IT, and Facilities.
• Ability to prepare corporate structures, support functions, and control frameworks that are ready for public-company standards.
• Track record of designing and implementing core business processes and controls.
• Familiarity with agentic back-office transformation and transaction processing automation.

Ideal Candidate

• A COO who has guided a company from startup through IPO and has managed the complete life cycle of corporate infrastructure scaling.
• A Chief Administrative Officer or Chief Business Officer from a scaled organization who has owned the full G&A stack, including HR, IT, Finance, Facilities, and Procurement, and run it with lean teams and strong efficiency.
• A Chief Transformation Officer with deep carve-out or spin-off experience who has built standalone corporate infrastructure for a newly independent company.
• A consultant or operator with experience in agentic back-office transformation and automation, particularly in corporate functions.
