Back-End Engineer

About the Role

Rime Platform is looking for an experienced engineer to strengthen and scale the orchestration core that runs AI workloads on constrained edge hardware. The focus of this role is to improve the decision-making engine that determines which tasks run, when they run, and how they perform on devices such as the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano.

You will work at the intersection of backend systems and deployed physical devices, helping ensure edge infrastructure runs efficiently, reliably, and at scale.

What You Will Do

• Build and refine new capabilities for a Python-based orchestration backend.
• Design control logic for CPU, GPU, and memory allocation, as well as task scheduling and priority handling across a distributed edge fleet.
• Investigate and tune AI and computer vision pipelines on Jetson devices by diagnosing Linux-level bottlenecks.
• Create and support scalable backend services and APIs, including REST and gRPC, for remote task deployment, monitoring, and updates.
• Improve automated delivery pipelines used to roll out AI models and orchestration updates to devices in the field.
• Serve as the main point of contact for complex issues that cut across models, orchestration code, and the Linux operating system on Jetson hardware.

Required Experience and Qualifications

This position calls for a strong background in backend development, systems programming, or DevOps with exposure to distributed or embedded environments. The ideal candidate has 3 to 5+ years of experience and is highly comfortable working in Python, especially for backend services, asynchronous programming such as asyncio, and system scripting.

Hands-on experience with the NVIDIA Jetson family, including platforms like Orin Nano, Xavier NX, or AGX, is essential. You should also have a solid understanding of Linux administration, process handling, shell scripting, networking, and performance analysis using tools such as top, htop, and perf.

You should be well-versed in designing, building, and maintaining APIs and microservices.

Preferred Experience

Experience with Docker, containerd, or edge-oriented Kubernetes platforms such as K3s or MicroK8s is a plus. Familiarity with NVIDIA technologies like DeepStream, TensorRT, or Triton Inference Server will be considered an advantage.

Exposure to deploying computer vision or machine learning models, knowledge of C++ or Go for high-performance components, and experience with IoT fleet management platforms such as AWS IoT Greengrass, Azure IoT Edge, or Balena would be beneficial.
