Role overview
This role owns the transportation scheduling process and is responsible for building practical shipment plans that support timely delivery while making efficient use of fleet and warehouse resources. The position requires working with transportation planning data, applying TCT transportation planning models, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders to keep schedules workable and aligned with business needs.
The associate manager will allocate the right carrier to each shipment in line with PepsiCo policies, carrier contracts and agreements, the current route guide, and capacity information gathered through TCT visibility processes. The role also involves revising schedules when required, keeping shipment plans feasible, monitoring carrier acceptances and rejections under tight timelines, and acting as the main contact for creating and updating shipment trip builds.
Key responsibilities
The position is expected to maintain compliance with scheduling procedures, drive the adoption of transportation planning tools, and deliver on service and productivity targets. It also includes balancing route efficiency with cost, transit time, fleet productivity, and SLA commitments while working closely with warehouses, carriers, and customers to align on pickup and delivery requirements.
Operational duties
In addition to planning and publishing shipment trip builds by the agreed cut-off time when applicable, the role calls for selecting carriers that reduce freight spend and improve operational effectiveness. The associate manager will partner with transport planners to distribute workload, support transport execution teams when capacity constraints arise, and assist control, performance, and execution teams in identifying the root causes of carrier performance gaps.
Qualifications
The preferred background is an engineering degree from a Tier 1 institute, along with roughly 2 to 5 years of experience in transport planning within an industry setting. Strong working knowledge of MS Excel is required, and familiarity with SAP, TMS, or other logistics software is expected. The role also requires fluent English communication skills.
