Role overview
This is a 12-month fixed-term, full-time Assistant Psychologist position based at St John of God University Hospital in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland. The role sits within a psychology team and involves participating in team meetings, case conferences, and other discussions assigned by the Principal Psychologist.
What you will do
- Support psychologists in delivering planned interventions to individuals or groups.
- Help assess individuals or groups using direct observation, standard psychometric tools, semi-structured interviews, and written reports.
- Provide supportive input to carers, family members, and relevant health or care professionals when needed.
- Assist with training activities alongside other professionals where appropriate.
- Contribute to research, audits, and evaluations of services.
- Help raise awareness of psychological services by sharing information with relevant stakeholders.
- Support the smooth running of the psychology service, including managing training equipment, information packs, and library materials.
- Carry out literature reviews, prepare presentations, and help draft articles for publication.
- Take part in Department of Psychology research work.
- Maintain and compile statistics related to the department’s clinical activity.
- Undertake other suitable duties within the department under supervision from Psychology Department staff.
Required qualifications and experience
- A graduate qualification in Psychology and a master’s degree in a psychology-related subject are required.
- Applicants must be Graduate Members of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
- A working understanding of psychology practice in Adult Mental Health is required, with direct experience in this area preferred.
- A clear commitment to ongoing learning and professional development is expected.
