Role Overview
TWYFORD INTERNATIONAL is hiring a Treasury Supervisor to oversee foreign exchange operations, insurance administration, and core treasury support activities in Lusaka, Zambia. This role requires close coordination with banks, insurance providers, and internal stakeholders to manage FX execution, risk monitoring, policy compliance, and treasury records with accuracy and discipline.
Core Responsibilities
- Track live foreign exchange rates in Zambia and stay in regular contact with several local partner banks to obtain current FX quotes, trading limits, and policy updates, then compare options to secure the most advantageous rates for company FX conversions.
- Review wider FX market movements, including the US Dollar Index, Federal Reserve policy direction, and global commodity trends. Monitor Bank of Zambia foreign exchange controls, exchange-rate rules, and declaration requirements, while watching ZMW movements closely, assessing FX exposure, preparing risk analyses, and sending timely risk warnings to the team.
- Oversee the complete insurance cycle for the company, covering policy purchase, yearly renewals, and claims processing. Review current workflows, build clear and practical SOPs for insurance management, and standardize records, document storage, and approval routing.
- Build new insurance partnerships within Zambia by researching and evaluating reputable local insurers, carrying out commercial negotiations, improving insurance sourcing arrangements, and helping lower overall insurance spend.
- Handle day-to-day treasury support work in Zambia, including treasury ledger upkeep, bank reconciliation, and FX declarations, while assisting the East Africa Treasury Manager with regional treasury coordination, capital risk controls, and other assigned tasks.
Candidate Profile
- A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
- Applicants should bring 3 to 5 years of practical experience in corporate treasury, foreign exchange operations, or corporate insurance administration, ideally in a large organization.
- Previous treasury experience in Zambia will be an advantage.
- English must be strong enough to manage independent business communication with banks and insurance companies.
- Hands-on knowledge of Bank of Zambia FX regulations and local bank settlement processes is essential, along with familiarity across insurance procurement, renewal, and claims handling.
- The role calls for the ability to interpret exchange-rate trends, spot capital risks, think logically, and work effectively with data.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills are needed to deal directly with banks, insurers, and regulators.
- The position requires a careful, detail-focused professional who can work under pressure while managing FX and insurance responsibilities at the same time.
