Team Member Grading Level 5

About the role

Gympie Regional Council is looking for a Team Member Grading Level 5 to join a multi-skilled crew delivering construction and maintenance works across council infrastructure. The role involves labouring duties, operating plant and machinery, and driving trucks as part of a team working to recognised standards.

What the position involves

• Carry out medium-complexity plant and equipment operation safely, efficiently, and competently.
• Support council’s work program through a mix of labouring, plant operation, and truck driving tasks.
• Assist with road construction and maintenance activities, including related infrastructure works.
• Use sound judgement to help improve work methods and support continuous improvement.
• Work both independently and cooperatively with other council teams.

Essential knowledge and skills

• Proven ability to operate specialised plant, vehicles, equipment, and tools confidently.
• Physical capability to perform heavy lifting, bending, and labour-intensive duties.
• Ability to work well with colleagues and members of the public while maintaining positive team relationships.
• Capacity to plan and organise complex road construction and maintenance work with limited supervision.
• Competence in Civil Construction Wheeled Front End Loader operations or an equivalent qualification.
• Current Queensland HR class driver’s licence or higher, along with any other relevant licences or competencies for plant, equipment, or trucks at this award level.
• Current Queensland General Construction Induction card (White/Blue card) or equivalent.
• Competence in Roller operations or an equivalent qualification.

Desirable background

• Experience in road construction and maintenance, including earthworks, pavements, drainage, stormwater, and concreting.
• Certificate III in Civil Construction, Plant Operations, or a similar field.
• Working at Heights certification.
• Traffic Management Implementation qualification.
• Competency in Skid Steer Loader operations.
• Competency in Excavator operations.

Important information

This vacancy has been advertised with a starting annual salary of $75,342; another section in the notice also refers to remuneration commencing at $75,352, both inclusive of up to 15% superannuation. The role is based in Gympie, Queensland, and is a full-time onsite position.
