Based in Wellington, this is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Senior Policy Analyst to contribute at a strategic level and help shape the future of health in Aotearoa New Zealand. What you will do
You will lead policy development from the first problem definition stage through to implementation and later review. The work requires strong analytical judgment, careful use of evidence, and the ability to produce advice that stands up to scrutiny. You will also help improve the quality of policy work across the team by reviewing outputs, coaching colleagues, and supporting capability building. In addition, you will coordinate projects, manage priorities, and work closely with stakeholders to support wider system outcomes that reflect equity and Te Tiriti commitments.
Skills and experience needed
The role calls for a strong foundation in public policy and familiarity with government processes. You should be comfortable developing high-quality advice, analysing difficult issues, and presenting clear options based on sound judgment. Experience leading work programmes and influencing a range of stakeholders is important, as is the ability to communicate effectively in writing, in conversation, and in interpersonal settings. Mentoring and relationship-building are also key parts of the role.
