Senior Planning Engineer

Role overview

This position is focused on end-to-end project planning and control for assigned projects, from the earliest initiation stage through final close-out. The role covers scheduling, tracking progress, validating reported achievement, and preparing clear status updates to support successful project delivery.

Key experience and capability requirements

• You should bring at least 15 years of project planning experience in the oil and gas sector, including major capital projects and/or portfolio work.
• Experience should include onshore brownfield and greenfield developments such as gas processing facilities, refineries, and onshore pipeline projects.
• Background with National Oil Companies and/or International Oil Companies is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years ideally gained in that environment.
• You must have worked across the full EPC lifecycle, covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning planning is needed, including strategies for system-wise handover.
• You should also have handled shutdown planning across the complete cycle: preparation before shutdown, execution during shutdown, and post-shutdown follow-up.
• The role requires hands-on exposure to project planning, scheduling, phasing, project controls, progress monitoring, forecasting, trend analysis, risk assessment, and variations/claims evaluation.
• Progress verification and reporting are also core parts of the role.
• Strong computer skills are expected, especially in MS Office and project control tools such as Primavera.
• Skills in Primavera Risk Analysis and Power BI are an advantage.
• Experience working in the GCC region is desirable.
• Strong analytical thinking and reporting ability are important for success in this position.

Education and certification

A Bachelor of Science degree, or an equivalent qualification, in an engineering discipline is required. A PMP certification or an equivalent professional membership/certification is preferred.
