Role overview
This role is for a Senior/Category Buyer who will help shape and execute commercial strategies that lift own-brand sales and support planned profit outcomes. The position focuses on stock control, assortment management, pricing decisions, and promotional planning.
What you will do
- Study customer needs, preferences, and shopping behavior to uncover opportunities that increase sales and grow market share.
- Monitor market developments, interpret emerging trends, and respond with timely actions and forecasts.
- Oversee new product introductions and assess existing merchandise to keep the assortment competitive.
- Handle the full own-brand acquisition cycle, including product development, launch planning, pricing, and promotions.
- Manage inventory levels by forecasting demand and adjusting supply according to operational requirements.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to support brand-building activities, revive slower-moving products, and strengthen sales of current ranges.
- Prepare and deliver marketing assets on schedule to support market launches and promotional execution.
- Coordinate with product development, marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure a smooth rollout of business activities.
- Update and maintain the marketing portal in line with new inputs and changing requirements.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure stronger product mixes, better costs, and support for advertising and promotion initiatives.
- Drive category growth, improve margins, and help deliver stronger profitability.
- Track key performance indicators regularly to stay aligned with market conditions and business goals.
- Manage return on investment so annual financial targets are met.
What we are looking for
- A diploma or degree in Business Management, Sales, or Marketing.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in retail merchandising or product development, preferably in a fast-moving consumer goods or similarly demanding retail environment.
- Prior exposure to beauty and personal care is important, along with knowledge of market trends, consumer insights, product innovation, and local product development.
- Experience working on licensing and intellectual property partnerships from concept stage through to market launch is an advantage.
- A driven self-starter with high energy, integrity, and a professional approach.
- Someone who is assertive, motivated, committed, persistent, diligent, and dependable.
- A results-focused person who is resourceful, resilient, proactive, and able to handle pressure and tight deadlines.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-volume, and changing environment.
