Position Overview
The Philipps-Universität Marburg, founded in 1527, is an award-winning teaching and research university with around 22,000 students. At the Centre for Synthetic Microbiology (SYNMIKRO) in the Department of Chemistry, a third-party funded full-time position is available in the research group of Prof. Dr. Gert Bange as soon as possible. The role is limited until 31 July 2027 and is graded according to pay scale E 13 of the Hessian public service agreement (TV-H).
The work is part of the ERC Advanced Grant project “KIWIsome”, funded by the European Union, which investigates the role of kiwellin proteins in plant defence against fungal pathogens.
Assignment
- Carry out biochemical and functional studies of proteins involved in the U. maydis/maize interaction.
- Investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms using X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM).
Project Context and Working Conditions
The third-party funded project offers the opportunity to contribute to project-related scientific work. Through a supervision agreement, it can be ensured that the results developed are available for your own academic qualification outside regular working hours. The fixed-term arrangement does not fall under Section 2(1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG).
Profile
The university is looking for applicants with an advanced academic background in Chemistry or Biochemistry, together with a doctorate in Biochemistry. Strong theoretical and hands-on knowledge in molecular genetics, biochemistry, and structural biology is required, along with experience in recombinant protein production and protein purification.நன்மைகள்
