The department promotes a friendly, team-oriented culture and gives new starters a structured induction together with ongoing support from colleagues across Radiology.
What the role involves
The post offers varied diagnostic imaging experience and encourages development in both radiography practice and patient care. Work may include trauma imaging, general and specialist orthopaedic imaging, theatre imaging, mobile imaging, paediatric imaging, fluoroscopy, and dental radiography. The service is also focused on creating more opportunities in specialist areas.
Working pattern
This position requires flexibility in working hours and includes participation in on-call duties at Wrightington across a seven-day working week.
Sites and clinical exposure

Thomas Linacre Outpatient Centre images GP and outpatient clinic patients. Leigh Infirmary is the future home of a state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre, with upgraded high-specification digital radiography equipment planned for primary care, walk-in centre, and outpatient referrals. The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary provides emergency and acute imaging services, including an interventional suite, two modern fluoroscopy rooms, five plain film rooms, and rotation opportunities across a busy range of procedures and specialities such as surgery, medicine, critical care, and paediatrics. The Wigan site is also a designated Trauma Unit supporting the Greater Manchester Trauma Network, with mobile imaging needs in areas such as the neonatal and paediatric emergency care units, maternity, and paediatric wards.
Additional information
New team members will be encouraged and supported to grow their skills in radiography and patient care. Evidence of qualifications will be required at interview and again during compliance checks.
