The Quantity Surveyor will help keep project spending within budget, support the project team on contractual and commercial matters, and make sure project administration is handled accurately and in line with contract obligations.

The role also involves working closely with client representatives and other external parties on variations, claims, and any extra payments, while helping the company meet its commercial goals.

Core Accountabilities

  • Track project expenditure, review invoices, and monitor payment workflows to keep costs under control.
  • Administer contracts across clients, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with agreed terms, payment milestones, variations, and claims.
  • Work with design and construction teams to identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering, including alternative materials, methods, or design changes.
  • Support project start-up activities, including reviewing tender documents, clarifications, specifications, drawings, and subcontract award requirements.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and trade tabulations, and develop scopes of work for approval.
  • Manage subcontract procurement by sourcing quotations, comparing offers, negotiating terms, and preparing awards, letters of award, work orders, and agreements.
  • Maintain subcontractor award records, checklists, and related filing throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Carry out monthly site visits and coordinate with site teams for assessment of claims and variation orders.
  • Prepare progress claims, variation claims, extension of time claims, and loss and expense claims with complete supporting documentation.
  • Submit claims on schedule, follow up on consultant or main contractor assessments, and track claim summaries and subcontractor payment status.
  • Handle payment responses and certificates, verify supporting documents, and route payment packages for approval and processing.
  • Monitor cash flow reporting and submit monthly reports within the required timeline.
  • Record and manage variation orders, including those with or without architect instructions, and coordinate quotations and submissions with relevant parties.
  • Support final account preparation, subcontract finalization, retention release, warranty documentation, and closure of outstanding project records.

Additional Information

This role is for civil works and requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to manage commercial information responsibly. The successful candidate should be comfortable coordinating with multiple stakeholders and handling detailed contract and payment administration tasks across the project timeline.
