Role summary
This position is for an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer based in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia. The role calls for a seasoned professional with a strong grounding in surveying, cost engineering, and construction-related disciplines, capable of handling complex assignments with limited guidance.
Key duties
- Carry out field surveys to determine the position of natural features, man-made structures, underground elements, and underwater features using electronic distance-measuring tools and related equipment.
- Use land-information systems and related software to store data, perform searches, and generate maps, plots, and reports.
- Assess and interpret survey team outputs covering distances, bearings, angles, elevations, lines, and contours above, below, and on the earth’s surface.
- Investigate legal documents and historical evidence to establish earlier boundary lines and confirm property limits.
- Check survey findings for accuracy and document the results through technical plots, maps, and reports.
- Handle complex work within the area of specialization and operate with a broad understanding of the discipline.
- Work under general direction for new tasks and complete assignments with professional judgment.
Requirements
- More than 10 years of relevant experience is expected.
- A Bachelor of Engineering degree is required, preferably with a specialization in MEP or Civil Engineering.
- Applicants should have substantial experience in quantity surveying, cost engineering, or closely related construction fields.
- Strong working knowledge of land-information systems and computer-assisted surveying tools is necessary.
- Applicants must be skilled in analyzing survey data, validating findings, and preparing technical documentation.
- Understanding of boundary research, legal record review, and property demarcation methods is essential.
- The role requires the ability to manage large, complex surveying assignments across varying scopes.
- Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in Arabic or an Asian language is also required.
- Professional certification or licensure in surveying or cost engineering is preferred.
- Prior work experience in Saudi Arabia or the Gulf region is an advantage.
- Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and a careful eye for detail are important.
- The candidate should ideally already be located in Saudi Arabia.
- Work is scheduled for 6 days per week, with Saturday as a half-day.
- The role is on-site.
