About the role

Wave’s purpose is to help make Africa the first continent where cash is no longer needed. The company builds practical financial tools that remove common barriers such as high fees, distance to bank branches, and limited card acceptance. Since launching its mobile app in Senegal in 2017 for cash deposits, withdrawals, and person-to-person as well as business payments, Wave has expanded rapidly and now serves millions of users across nine countries.

As a People Partner - Support, you will support the call center team in The Gambia by delivering people operations work in a strategic, organized, and people-focused way. • Work with Group and Team Leads to strengthen organizational performance through restructuring, engagement initiatives, and retention-focused actions.
  • Support performance management processes by ensuring regular feedback cycles, 1:1 meetings, coaching discussions, career growth conversations, OKR tracking, reviews, and follow-up on performance improvement plans.
  • Review sick leave records regularly to confirm documentation is complete and company policy is being followed.
  • Track service-tenure changes for Benefit and Health Review purposes and make sure updates are completed on time and in line with policy.
  • Maintain employee status changes accurately in HR systems and personnel records.
  • Handle workplace accommodation requests and coordinate with local doctors or medical professionals to assess and support suitable adjustments.
  • Prepare and deliver explanation letters for employees when needed.
  • Monitor HR policy compliance and target achievement, including attendance, compliance, and turnaround-time metrics.
  • Work with Support Leads to address repeated absenteeism and support improvements in attendance.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, resignations, terminations, and contract end processes, including exit interviews and the required paperwork.
  • Audit overtime submissions to ensure they align with internal policy and local labour regulations.
  • Support the HR team with additional operational and initiative-based work as needed.
  • Promote a healthy workplace through recognition, rewards, team-building, and career-development conversations, while helping implement retention measures that reduce attrition.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with team members and contribute to a high-impact, positive environment.
