Role Overview
The mortgage loan processor will manage purchase loan files from initial setup through final closing, ensuring all borrower data is accurately verified, assembled, and entered into the system. The position requires close attention to compliance, documentation completeness, and communication with internal and external parties throughout the loan lifecycle.
Key Duties
- Handle loans from start to finish by collecting, organizing, and inputting borrower details into the loan system.
- Check that income and asset records are complete and align with established underwriting guidelines.
- Add notes to files so all involved parties remain updated on the loan’s progress.
- Initiate third-party steps whenever they are needed.
- Order supporting documents as required to move files forward.
- Validate income documents and recalculate figures to confirm accuracy.
- Compare the appraisal and title documents to ensure the property description is correct.
- Examine title work and coordinate with the title officer to resolve judgments and liens.
- Confirm property taxes are current and update escrow calculations for taxes and insurance.
- Make sure hazard insurance is fully paid and provides adequate coverage for the loan amount.
- Partner with the post-closing team to clear any funding-related issues.
Requirements
- At least two years of experience handling purchase mortgage processing.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Strong analytical ability with a high level of attention to detail.
- Practical working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and adapt to process updates.
