Role overview
This is a remote, unpaid leadership opportunity for a learning and development professional in the United States. The role is centered on creating engaging training experiences that help volunteers contribute to a mission-driven organization and generate meaningful social impact.
The position is posted on behalf of a partner organization, which will handle applications and all subsequent hiring steps. In this role, you will build, deliver, and refine learning programs that improve organizational effectiveness, strengthen volunteer engagement, and support knowledge sharing across teams.
You will work closely with Human Capital and other cross-functional leaders to identify training needs, create scalable learning tools, and establish strong onboarding and development practices. This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys designing learning structures, improving programs over time, and enabling teams to perform at their best through effective training.
Key accountabilities
- Create, update, and manage training guides, learning materials, and other resources used by volunteers across different functions.
- Evaluate organizational learning needs and suggest training initiatives that can improve volunteer performance and overall operational results.
- Build and run onboarding programs that help new volunteers become effective members of the organization.
- Work with Human Capital and operations leaders to develop role-specific learning solutions that respond to changing training priorities.
- Set up methods for reviewing training impact, interpreting results, and recommending improvements based on what is learned.
- Lead learning and development projects from initial planning through delivery while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Encourage ongoing learning by finding opportunities to improve knowledge sharing and volunteer growth.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources with a concentration in Learning & Development, Training, or Talent Development.
- Background in creating and delivering virtual training programs and learning initiatives.
- Solid understanding of instructional design approaches and adult learning methods.
- Demonstrated ability to manage learning projects from needs analysis through implementation and evaluation.
- Strong written, spoken, and interpersonal communication abilities.
- Well-developed organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- A creative, proactive, and practical approach to solving problems.
- Dependable, accountable, and committed to high-quality work in a collaborative setting.
- Comfort working independently in a fully remote environment while coordinating effectively with cross-functional colleagues.
