Information Technology Manager

Role Overview

The Information Technology Manager will direct the organization’s full IT function, making sure technology services remain dependable, secure, and efficient across the steel manufacturing site. This position is responsible for shaping IT direction, running infrastructure and business applications, strengthening cybersecurity, and delivering technology improvements that support day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate should bring strong technical depth, proven people leadership, and experience supporting IT in manufacturing, engineering, or other industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and execute an IT roadmap that supports business priorities and plant operations.
• Drive digital improvement initiatives by identifying tools and systems that raise productivity and efficiency.
• Advise management on new technologies, IT spending, and opportunities to improve business processes.
• Define and uphold IT policies, standards, procedures, and best-practice controls.
• Plan and oversee the annual IT budget, resources, projects, and technology programs.
• Lead and coordinate IT staff, external consultants, vendors, and service partners.
• Administer IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, end-user devices, communication tools, and related hardware.
• Maintain reliable availability of systems that support production and business activity.
• Handle setup, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades for hardware and software platforms.
• Oversee LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, internet access, CCTV, access control, and communication solutions.
• Deliver IT support to manufacturing operations and plant-based systems.
• Ensure technology is available for production planning, stock control, quality tracking, and reporting.
• Work closely with engineering and operations teams to improve system performance.
• Support automation and data-led improvements in the manufacturing environment.
• Reduce downtime linked to technology or system failures.
• Protect the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of company information.
• Develop continuity plans for critical IT services.
• Oversee data storage, backup, security, and recovery activities, including routine recovery testing.
• Manage IT support for all departments and ensure issues are resolved promptly.
• Provide technical coaching and user training, while encouraging adoption of business applications and digital tools.
• Maintain a strong standard of internal customer service.
• Handle supplier and service-provider relationships, including negotiations and delivery monitoring.
• Review technology options and recommend suitable investments.
• Confirm that vendors meet agreed service levels and contractual obligations.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline is required.
• A master’s degree will be an added advantage.
• 5 to 8 years of progressive experience in information technology is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in an IT leadership or supervisory capacity is required.
• Prior exposure to manufacturing, steel, engineering, FMCG, mining, or other industrial environments is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing ERP platforms and enterprise software applications is required.

Additional Information

This role is based in Tema, Greater Accra Region, Ghana. It is a full-time, onsite position in a steel manufacturing setting.
