This role is suited to someone who enjoys meaningful work with seniors, takes pride in creating a clean and welcoming environment, and wants to help shape a premium community experience from the beginning.
The organization emphasizes service excellence, compassion, innovation, and a people-first culture. In addition to a competitive wage, the role includes health benefits, team meals, vacation, sick pay, and other employee perks.
What you will do
As a Housekeeper, you will help maintain cleanliness throughout the community and stay accountable to your assigned schedule and duties. You will also support emergency response procedures when required and help ensure that resident safety, privacy, and confidentiality are respected at all times.
- Carry out the housekeeping schedule on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Clean floors by sweeping, dry mopping, wet mopping, and disinfecting when needed.
- Handle emergency cleaning tasks after accidents or unexpected incidents.
- Dust, spot clean, wash, polish, and disinfect furniture, fixtures, ledges, shelves, vents, and similar areas as required.
- Remove waste, empty and clean ashtrays and bins, replace liners, and dispose of garbage properly.
- Rearrange furnishings as directed and report any wear or defects to a supervisor.
- Clean private, public, and staff bathrooms, including fixtures, floors, walls, mirrors, windows, and supply restocking.
- Complete move-out suite cleaning procedures and prepare suites for incoming residents.
- Wash, fold, iron, and deliver laundry when required.
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times, and strengthen measures during outbreaks if necessary.
- Serve in a supervisory capacity during overnight fire or emergency situations.
- Complete other related tasks and special assignments as needed.
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate is a motivated team player with strong customer service instincts and experience in housekeeping or a similar environment. You should be comfortable working with minimal supervision, able to collaborate well with others, and committed to high standards of cleanliness and service.
- Clear communication skills with coworkers and support staff.
- Good time management and the ability to work independently.
- Team-oriented mindset with an understanding of shared priorities.
- Physical ability to bend, stretch, sit, and stand for long periods, plus lift up to 50 lb.
- Comfort using commercial cleaning and laundry equipment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and weekends.
- Completion of the Safety 24-7 online training program is required.
- Housekeeping experience is considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
Eligibility and hiring conditions
Applicants must be able to prove eligibility to work in Canada for at least the next 6 months. The employer welcomes applications from people with disabilities and can provide accommodations during the hiring process. The workplace operates in the vulnerable sector, so all new team members must be vaccinated for COVID-19, with accommodation available for medical or religious reasons in line with applicable Ontario human rights and accessibility obligations.
