Flight Crew Manager

Role overview

beOnd is inviting internal applications for a Flight Crew Manager. The role may be based in either Malé (MLE) or Dubai (DWC) and reports to the NPFO. The position focuses on managing flight crew operations, supporting safety and compliance, and improving the effectiveness of the pilot workforce.

Key accountabilities

• Oversee operational delivery and handle the day-to-day management of the flight crew team.
• Guide and develop pilots to meet safety expectations, regulatory obligations, and operational performance goals.
• Create and implement strategies, processes, and policies for crew recruitment, selection, roster planning, career progression, and base transfer arrangements.
• Contribute to the review, development, and updating of the company Operations Manuals.
• Maintain safe operations by continuously reviewing pilot performance and ensuring adherence to company procedures and policies.
• Track safety reporting activity and base occurrence trends, introduce mitigations where needed, and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Raise issues affecting safety policy, regulatory compliance, standards, processes, and procedures with senior stakeholders when necessary.
• Build a positive and fair team culture that makes flight crew feel respected, supported, and engaged.
• Involve crew members in decisions to strengthen working relationships and encourage collaboration.
• Promote a mindset that balances safety, on-time performance, cost control, and service quality.
• Support the Flight Operations Management team with cost-saving initiatives while maintaining safety standards.
• Monitor operational performance and encourage on-time performance and fuel-saving measures at base.
• Help develop local flight operations processes and lead projects assigned by the Nominated Person Flight Operations.
• Represent beOnd on operational matters at base level where technical expertise is required to strengthen safety outcomes.
• Lead pilots to deliver an efficient, adaptable workforce and ensure commercial awareness across the pilot group.
• Coach and mentor pilots, including support for command development and wider career growth.
• Communicate clearly and consistently with the crew and support planning meetings in coordination with rostering.
• Take ownership of pilot-related issues, including performance concerns and conflicts, when required.
• Work with P&T to keep crew terms and conditions aligned with legislative changes and business needs.
• Work with HR to manage disciplinary and grievance processes, issue escalation, and proactive training or intervention.
• Oversee sickness and attendance management for flight crew.
• Prepare and share reports and feedback on crew performance, including monthly and annual performance reporting.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the NPFO.

Requirements

• Hold an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL).
• Have a valid A320 type rating.
• Bring at least 5 years of experience as a pilot, including a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Possess strong knowledge of aviation regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Understand safety management systems and risk assessment well.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team.
• Show excellent problem-solving and decision-making capability.
• Communicate effectively and work well with others.
• Maintain a high standard of integrity and a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
