An established main contractor is hiring an experienced Estimator to join its pre-construction team in Chatham, Kent. Role Summary

In this position, you will support the business in winning future work and influencing project outcomes from the earliest stages. You will work closely with internal teams and external supply partners to shape competitive, accurate submissions.

Key Duties

• Build detailed cost plans, estimates, budgets, and tender returns
• Analyse drawings, specifications, and employer requirements
• Handle the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission
• Request and compare pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
• Spot commercial risks, value-engineering opportunities, and potential margin improvements
• Work alongside pre-construction, design, and commercial colleagues

Requirements

• Previous experience as an Estimator in a main contractor setting
• Strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and pricing structures
• Background in new-build and/or refurbishment projects
• Ability to manage several tenders at once and work to deadlines
• Good commercial judgement and a sharp eye for detail
• Confident communication and negotiation abilities
