Role Overview
The Cybersecurity Operations Associate will help run and improve the company’s security operations environment, with a focus on monitoring tools, incident handling, vulnerability management, automation, and threat awareness. This role works closely with internal teams to strengthen the overall security posture and support day-to-day defense operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and tune security platforms such as Azure Security (DLP and compliance), Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Cloud and Email, Rapid7 for vulnerability management and SIEM, and Cisco Umbrella.
- Assess, deploy, and improve security technologies that strengthen the organization’s protection capabilities.
- Take part in incident response work, including investigation of security events and implementation of corrective actions.
- Work with other teams to introduce preventive controls that reduce exposure to security threats.
- Create and maintain scripts that automate security operations and repetitive tasks.
- Connect security tools and processes into existing workflows to improve efficiency.
- Run the vulnerability management program and coordinate remediation efforts with technology teams.
- Use public and proprietary threat intelligence sources to spot new and emerging risks.
Preferred Background and Qualifications
A four-year college degree or equivalent training and certifications is preferred. The role calls for 3 to 6 years of experience in a security analyst or similar position, ideally within financial services. Candidates should understand Microsoft enterprise technologies such as Azure, Active Directory, SQL, Office 365, and Windows server and desktop systems. Experience with security frameworks including NIST, CIS-18, and ISO is valuable, along with hands-on use of tools such as SIEM, DLP, SOAR, IAM, endpoint security, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. Strong experience with vulnerability scanners like Nessus, Qualys, Rapid7, or similar tools is also expected. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving small-team environment. Strong written and spoken English communication is required.
Certifications and Technical Exposure
Industry certifications such as CEH, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, and GSEC are considered relevant. Scripting and automation experience with tools such as Python and PowerShell is an important advantage.
Work Style
The position requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, adjust to changing assignments, and balance both strategic and hands-on work effectively.
