About the Company

Omnidian is a rapidly expanding Series C technology-enabled services company focused on performance assurance for distributed solar and energy storage. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, it is a certified B Corp that aims to support a more sustainable future through technology, dedicated teams, and strong customer experience.

Role Overview

The Corporate Controller will serve as Omnidian’s top accounting leader and an important part of the leadership team. This position is highly strategic and involves close collaboration with the CFO and other business leaders to build scalable accounting processes, shape accounting strategy, and keep the company ready for audits and transactions as it grows.

The role owns the accounting function from end to end, including close, consolidations, compliance, audit, tax, and systems. It also includes evaluating how AI and automation can improve finance operations. The person in this role will lead and develop a team of 4 to 8 people, including the Assistant Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for U.S. and Australian entities, with a focus on accuracy, speed, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and maintain consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including intercompany eliminations, multi-currency consolidation, and technical accounting judgments.
  • Provide prompt and dependable reporting to the CFO, board members, and investors.
  • Manage the external audit process and relationship, ensuring timely and clean completion across all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Strengthen internal controls and build audit-ready accounting infrastructure suitable for a future strategic transaction such as M&A, private equity recapitalization, debt financing, or an IPO.
  • Oversee compliance for sales tax, use tax, property tax, and other obligations in U.S. states and international locations.
  • Ensure adherence to bank covenants and investor reporting commitments.
  • Set the roadmap for accounting technology, including NetSuite optimization, assessment of AI-native tools, and automation across close, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
  • Identify and implement ways to reduce manual work and improve analytical insight through new tools and methods.
  • Work with FP&A, Engineering, and Operations on system integrations and cross-functional process design.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, fostering accountability, performance, and career growth.
  • Act as a reliable accounting advisor to leaders in Sales, Product, Operations, Legal, and HR by converting accounting complexity into practical business guidance.
  • Support the CFO on M&A, financing, tax planning, and investor relations as needed.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on provisions, filings, and strategic tax matters.

Candidate Profile

The right candidate is a systems-oriented builder who thinks at scale, earns trust across functions, and communicates technical accounting topics in a clear and practical way. The ideal person is proactive about using AI and automation to create business value, works with urgency, and is comfortable operating in a fast-changing environment that requires ownership and leadership.

This role is best suited for someone who has handled clean audits and due diligence and understands what investors and acquirers focus on during major transactions. Candidates should be energized by building structure, shaping process, and leading a team that takes pride in accounting excellence.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 12 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 or more years in a Controller or similar senior accounting leadership position.
  • Strong command of U.S. GAAP, including consolidations, intercompany accounting, revenue recognition under ASC 606, and accounting for international subsidiaries.
  • Proven success in high-growth, multi-entity environments where scalable systems had to be built rather than merely maintained.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite and advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in a Series B through Series D company that completed a significant transaction such as M&A, PE investment, debt financing, IPO, or a similar event.
  • Background in service businesses, field operations, or technology-enabled services such as electrical contracting, field service, SaaS, or comparable models.
  • Exposure to clean energy, renewable energy, or sustainability-oriented organizations.
  • Practical experience implementing AI tools and automation in accounting workflows.
  • Audit experience at a Big 4 or national accounting firm.
  • International accounting exposure, especially in Australia or other English-speaking jurisdictions, is a plus.
