About the role
Tesco is looking for an energetic Barista to join one of its café teams in Hemsworth. This role suits someone who enjoys high-quality food and drinks, together with delivering friendly, efficient customer service. You will help guests enjoy well-made coffee, tea and seasonal beverages that add a little extra to their day.
You may already have experience as a Barista or in wider hospitality, and you will be expected to bring that knowledge into the team while also helping others build theirs. The café relies on fast, accurate service, so you will need to know the menu well, stay on top of new product or service updates, keep an eye on stock levels, and respond to customers’ specific needs.
Tesco Café aims to create opportunities for everyone to perform at their best. In this position, you will help guide the development of other baristas and work with the Café Manager to support team members who want to grow their skills. You will also use Tesco’s Click and Learn portal and other café learning materials to complete training and broaden your own knowledge.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older for this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of drinks quickly and accurately for customers.
- Follow food hygiene and safety requirements to maintain the expected standards.
- Monitor stock availability and work in line with Tesco’s policies and operating procedures.
- Partner with the Café Manager to identify team members who need support or development as baristas.
- Stay informed about internal updates, new offers, menu revisions and business initiatives.
- Handle customer concerns or complaints where possible and appropriate.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a barista or in a hospitality setting.
- Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability and confidence to coach and train others in an inclusive way.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Self-starter mindset with the ability to spot improvements and adapt to changing situations.
- Clear communication skills for working with colleagues and the Café Manager.
