Role overview
We are seeking a motivated and technically strong AV Technician to support events and presentations in Greater Visakhapatnam. This role acts as the technical lead for audio-visual delivery, helping ensure that conferences, entertainment programs, and other live experiences run smoothly and professionally in a busy, customer-facing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Set up, install, and configure professional AV systems such as projectors, microphones, speakers, lighting equipment, monitors, cameras, and video conferencing tools.
- Check all equipment before use to make sure it is clean, safe, and fully operational for events and presentations.
- Run AV systems during live functions, including sound control, video switching, and lighting operation to deliver a polished experience.
- Carry out regular servicing and preventive maintenance to keep equipment performing well over time.
- Identify and resolve technical faults quickly to reduce interruptions during events.
- Arrange or perform repairs for defective AV equipment as needed.
- Support event hosts, presenters, performers, and users with prompt technical assistance.
- Help with setup, live operation, and dismantling of equipment for events and productions.
- Work with event teams, IT staff, and other stakeholders to understand technical needs and deliver accordingly.
- Track AV inventory, maintain organised storage, and keep equipment records accurate.
- Document system configurations, operating procedures, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance activity.
- Coordinate sound checks, stage setup, and technical requirements with bands, singers, and performers.
- Be available for rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, based on event and operational requirements.
Qualifications and experience
The role calls for 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience as an AV Technician or in a similar technical position. Experience in luxury hospitality, events, entertainment, live production, or corporate AV settings will be especially useful. Candidates should have practical exposure to live sound mixing, video switching, lighting control, and event setup, along with a strong working knowledge of professional AV hardware and systems.
Technical and professional requirements
Applicants should understand signal flow, cabling, power distribution, and equipment connectivity. Familiarity with AV control platforms, wired and wireless microphones, sound reinforcement principles, and audio mixing techniques is important. A good grasp of equipment safety and electrical safety procedures is also expected.
Education and certifications
A diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering, Audio Visual Technology, Electronics, or a related technical subject is considered an advantage. Industry certifications in AV systems or audio engineering are preferred.
Soft skills
Strong English communication skills are needed to explain technical matters to non-technical colleagues and stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be analytical, detail-oriented, organised, adaptable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. The role also requires resilience under pressure, strong time management, good prioritisation, and a consistently customer-first approach.
Work schedule
This position requires flexibility to support rotating shifts and event-driven schedules, including work during evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
