AI Engineer

Role overview

Malomatia is hiring an AI Engineer in Doha, Qatar for a full-time onsite role focused on building practical generative-AI application features. The position is centered on the application layer of AI rather than model training or MLOps, and it suits someone who enjoys working with rapidly evolving generative-AI tools and techniques.

What you will do

• Create generative-AI functionality and applications using large language models and foundation-model APIs.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation workflows, including document ingestion, embeddings, and vector search.
• Craft, test, and continuously improve prompts and orchestration logic for LLM-based processes.
• Build agent-based elements, tool use, and multi-step workflows.
• Connect AI capabilities into applications and services, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Generative AI services where relevant.
• Assess model responses against quality standards and add safety checks, validation, and guardrails.
• Prepare evaluation datasets and run comparisons across prompts, models, and configurations.
• Work closely with senior AI engineers and product stakeholders to ship usable AI features.
• Refine solutions using evaluation outcomes, system performance, and user feedback.
• Maintain clear documentation for AI components, prompts, and integration patterns.
• Help build reusable internal components and accelerators for generative-AI delivery.

Required background

• 3 to 5 years of software engineering experience, including practical work on LLM or generative-AI features.
• Hands-on production experience with RAG pipelines, embeddings, and vector databases.
• Proven ability to design, test, and refine prompts and orchestration flows for LLM-driven systems.
• Strong interest in generative-AI application development rather than classical model training or MLOps.
• Good command of Python and familiarity with LLM frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, along with foundation-model APIs.
• Working understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval methods, and vector database usage.
• Ability to improve the accuracy, reliability, and usefulness of AI outputs.
• Solid software engineering foundations, including version control, testing, and API integration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline; equivalent experience is also acceptable.

Preferred experience

• Exposure to OCI Generative AI services or similar cloud AI platforms.
• Familiarity with agent frameworks and tool integration.
• Experience deploying applications to cloud platforms, ideally Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Awareness of responsible-AI and safety considerations.
• Experience tuning vector databases and improving retrieval performance.
• AI or cloud certifications.
