Role overview
Atturra is seeking a Systems Administrator to provide advanced operational support across customer and internal managed service environments. The role focuses on escalation handling, platform stability, service improvement, standardisation, and ensuring delivery aligns with agreed service levels and security expectations.
You will work alongside Service Delivery Managers, project teams, and customer stakeholders to support technical outcomes across Microsoft server and workstation platforms, Microsoft 365, VMware/Hyper-V virtualisation, automation, and enterprise backup tools such as Veeam and Commvault.
Technical operations and escalation management
- Investigate complex incidents, identify the underlying cause, and implement lasting fixes to reduce repeat issues.
- Strengthen monitoring, alerting, patching, and general operational health across managed service platforms.
- Take part in on-call or after-hours support as required by the roster.
Microsoft infrastructure and endpoint administration
- Manage and improve Microsoft Windows Server environments and essential services such as Active Directory Domain Services, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Remote Desktop Services, file services, and IIS.
- Handle configuration, security hardening, patching, and lifecycle activities for Windows 10 and Windows 11 endpoints.
- Support identity and access management, including Active Directory, Entra ID, multi-factor authentication, conditional access, and single sign-on where applicable.
Microsoft 365 administration
- Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Intune/Endpoint Manager, and related Microsoft security capabilities as required for client environments.
- Contribute to changes, migrations, enhancements, and optimisation work across the platform.
Virtualisation and platform support
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot virtualised environments in VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.
- Work with storage platforms and concepts such as SAN and NAS, including capacity planning and performance tuning.
Backup, recovery, and resilience
- Administer enterprise backup and recovery platforms including Veeam and Commvault.
- Carry out backup health checks, restoration testing, disaster recovery support, and incident recovery activities.
- Ensure backup strategies align with customer RPO and RTO targets as well as MSP standards.
Automation and continual improvement
- Build and maintain automation that improves service quality and reduces repetitive manual work, with PowerShell and Ansible strongly preferred.
- Create and update SOPs, knowledge base content, and technical standards to improve documentation quality and reuse.
- Spot improvement opportunities and help drive tool enhancement and standardisation.
Project support and service transitions
- Assist in moving solutions from delivery into operations and make sure handover and operational readiness are in place.
- Support onboarding of new managed services customers by coordinating with project teams, aligning customer practices with Atturra standards, verifying support readiness and skill coverage, reviewing documentation quality, and contributing to process and technical design advice where needed.
Working conditions
This is a permanent full-time position based in Melbourne with a hybrid working arrangement.
