Special Agent: Accounting/Finance Background

Role overview

This FBI special agent role is designed for professionals with an accounting or finance foundation who want to apply their analytical strengths to national security work. The position has been exempted from the federal civilian hiring freeze. In this role, you will go beyond traditional finance responsibilities and use your expertise to help investigate threats such as cybercrime, terrorism, fraud, and other emerging risks.

You will receive specialized training, gain hands-on investigative experience, and work with modern tools and technology. The role is also intended to strengthen your financial analysis and account reconciliation capabilities while building leadership experience in a high-impact environment.

Major duties

• Lead and support investigations involving possible violations of federal law, cybersecurity incidents, and public safety concerns.
• Use sound judgment, flexibility, and problem-solving skills to handle complex investigative requirements.
• Develop and sustain working relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement partners.
• Stay physically prepared to carry out law enforcement responsibilities effectively.

Education

A bachelor’s degree or a higher qualification is required. Preferred academic backgrounds include accounting, business administration, finance, or forensic accounting, earned from a U.S.-accredited college or university. Official college transcripts are required to verify all degrees.

Salary

The pay range for this role is $103,236 to $133,200. Compensation may vary based on base pay, locality, and availability pay.
