Role overview
Are Media is hiring a commercially minded Shopping Editor to shape and expand shopping and affiliate content across its premium New Zealand brand portfolio. Reporting to the NZ Head of Digital, the role involves producing engaging, high-performing content that helps audiences discover products across beauty, fashion, home, lifestyle, and gifting.
The position requires a balance of editorial judgement and commercial awareness. The successful candidate will build and manage the shopping content strategy and calendar, work closely with editorial, audience, SEO, and commercial teams, and ensure content is aligned with seasonal moments, audience behaviour, and business goals. The role also includes promoting and improving shopping content across digital channels and supporting print opportunities where appropriate.
This opportunity is suited to someone who enjoys digital publishing, has a strong interest in product discovery and trends, and is comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative setting. A data-informed approach is important, as performance insights will be used to refine content, uncover growth opportunities, and increase affiliate revenue while protecting editorial quality and audience trust.
Responsibilities
- Create shoppable editorial content for Are Media’s New Zealand brands, including gift guides, trend-led roundups, product reviews, and affiliate-driven features.
- Coordinate the New Zealand shopping content calendar with editorial, digital, and commercial stakeholders.
- Increase affiliate income by spotting strong content opportunities and improving existing product stories for better conversion.
- Track retail trends, seasonal events, and audience data to keep coverage timely and commercially effective.
- Improve the performance of both evergreen and seasonal shopping content.
- Work with internal support teams to drive traffic and conversions.
- Help maintain relationships with affiliate brands.
Requirements
- Established editorial background in consumer, lifestyle, or commerce-focused publishing.
- Ability to write and edit product-focused content that drives action while preserving brand voice and credibility.
- Comfort managing content across several brands at once while working to tight deadlines.
- Good understanding of SEO and performance analytics, with the ability to use data to guide editorial choices.
