Role overview
This opportunity is with a general contractor seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead construction work in St. Louis, Missouri. The role spans the full project lifecycle, beginning in preconstruction and continuing through closeout. You will be responsible for keeping projects safe, coordinated, on schedule, and financially controlled while working closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
The position is suited to a seasoned construction professional who enjoys owning complex jobs, solving field challenges, and guiding teams toward high-quality delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Direct every stage of construction delivery, from preconstruction planning through final closeout, with a focus on safety, schedule, and budget performance.
- Set and uphold safety and quality expectations, including routine site walk-throughs and compliance checks.
- Manage day-to-day project execution, work through field issues, and confirm that construction aligns with drawings, specifications, and client needs.
- Build estimates, quantity takeoffs, proposals, and subcontractor bid packages; also negotiate and finalize subcontract agreements.
- Track budgets, forecasts, change orders, vendor invoices, and owner billing items.
- Obtain required permits and ensure the project remains compliant with codes, regulations, insurance rules, and contractual obligations.
- Keep project records accurate and current, including RFIs, pay applications, schedules, and closeout documentation.
- Lead and develop project staff such as PEs, APMs, PMs, and superintendents, while coordinating staffing and manpower needs.
- Run OAC, subcontractor, and internal project meetings to keep work aligned and moving forward.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, design partners, and subcontractors while building strong relationships that support future work.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience is also acceptable.
- At least 7 to 10+ years of project management experience in construction.
- Demonstrated success delivering large projects valued at $100M+ from preconstruction through completion.
- Strong leadership, team coordination, and collaborative communication skills.
- Working knowledge of construction technology and productivity tools such as Procore and Microsoft Office.
