Scrum Master

Overview

This role is for a Scrum Master supporting remote delivery teams in New York. The position sits within a consulting environment focused on driving business change, improving processes, and increasing operational effectiveness. The work involves guiding Agile teams, improving delivery practices, and helping projects move forward with clarity and discipline.

Responsibilities

• Act as Scrum Master for one to two cross-functional Agile teams and reinforce Scrum values, roles, ceremonies, and artifacts.
• Lead Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives while keeping outcomes focused and time boundaries on track.
• Assist with quarterly or increment planning by preparing inputs, surfacing dependencies, and connecting sprint goals to larger objectives.
• Coach the team, Product Owner or Product Manager, and stakeholders on Agile and Scrum practices that strengthen collaboration and delivery.
• Encourage a mindset of continuous improvement and servant leadership across the team.
• Help teams turn retrospective action items into practical improvements that are reflected in sprint backlogs and followed through.
• Support the use of Jira and Jira AI for backlog refinement, sprint planning, and simple reporting needs.
• Use Copilot to summarize sprint results, capture decisions, and streamline communication.
• Monitor key delivery metrics such as velocity, cycle time, predictability, and defect patterns, and help the team interpret them.
• Maintain visibility into delivery progress through dashboards and sprint artifacts, and call out risks, blockers, and emerging trends.
• Work with Product and Engineering to keep the backlog well-prioritized, clearly defined, and aligned with business objectives.
• Identify and escalate dependencies and risks, coordinating with other Scrum Masters or teams when needed.
• Promote awareness of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and how they affect Agile delivery.
• Encourage quality practices such as definition of done and testing strategy so quality is built into sprint planning and the wider SDLC.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a comparable Agile delivery role supporting software or product teams.
• Scrum or Agile certification such as CSM, PSM I, or SAFe Scrum Master is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of Jira, with familiarity in Jira AI and Copilot for backlog, reporting, and communication support.
• Practical understanding of Agile frameworks, Scrum delivery metrics, and collaboration in scaled environments.
• Knowledge of the software delivery lifecycle and DevOps principles.
• Experience working with teams that use CI/CD pipelines is an advantage.
• Excellent facilitation and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with Product and Engineering stakeholders.
• Comfort using AI-enabled tools to reduce overhead and improve delivery transparency.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is USD 66,300 to USD 85,000, or the hourly equivalent. Compensation may vary based on education, experience, certifications, and similar factors.
