About the role
This position sits within a major project controls environment in Perth, Western Australia. The scheduler will support a long-term portfolio of capital works programs across sectors such as aviation, defense, and energy infrastructure, working closely with integrated customer teams. The role focuses on keeping project plans realistic, coordinated, and on schedule across complex, multidisciplinary work.
What you will do
- Develop schedule information for proposals and contract discussions, and may take the lead on this work.
- Use established unit job-hour and pricing references for the relevant discipline, including estimating factors, productivity assumptions, indices, and craft distribution data.
- Combine individual schedules into one overall project plan.
- Create the work logic for the performing organization to support the project schedule.
- Carry out resource loading and leveling for schedules.
- Keep regular communication with other teams to support schedule upkeep and reporting.
- Spot scheduling constraints and flag activities that could critically affect the timeline.
- Prepare and present a schedule impact report when required.
- Build recovery plans to bring schedules back on track.
- Review subcontractor schedules and recommend workarounds or improvements where needed.
Experience and qualifications
The role requires either a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) plus 10–13 years of relevant experience, or 14–17 years of relevant work experience.
Required knowledge and skills
- Strong background in planning and scheduling, including schedule development, control, analysis, and related cost engineering activities.
- Hands-on experience with cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis in both field and home-office settings.
- Ability to supervise, administer personnel, and support training for both technical and non-technical staff.
- Capability to work independently with minimal oversight while applying sound judgment in technical planning and scheduling.
- Solid understanding of engineering design and construction practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of project controls practices and engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup workflows.
- Willingness to relocate to Perth.
- Major construction project experience is essential.
