About the Role
This position calls for a seasoned reliability leader to head the reliability function for a large-scale gasification and power operation. The focus of the role is to maximize equipment performance, lift plant availability, and strengthen reliability outcomes through data-led decision-making and modern maintenance methods.
Strategic Leadership
- Create and roll out reliability plans that improve the performance and availability of essential assets.
- Champion ongoing improvement initiatives across maintenance and reliability activities.
- Ensure reliability priorities support wider operational and business targets.
Reliability & Maintenance Excellence
- Spearhead preventive and predictive maintenance efforts to minimize stoppages and prolong asset life.
- Track equipment health, interpret reliability information, and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.
- Manage root cause analysis and failure reviews to remove repeat problems.
Asset Performance & Optimization
- Raise equipment reliability, improve MTBF, and enhance overall plant efficiency.
- Apply advanced reliability methods such as RCM, FMEA, and condition-based monitoring tools.
- Support defect elimination and maintenance optimization programs that improve performance.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain adherence to safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.
- Help build and sustain a strong safety-first mindset within engineering and maintenance teams.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Direct, coach, and develop reliability engineers and specialist team members.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and technical functions to support plant reliability.
- Liaise with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to drive operational excellence.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or a closely related engineering field is required.
- A master’s degree will be considered an added advantage.
- Professional credentials such as CMRP, CRE, or Six Sigma are preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in reliability engineering or maintenance is needed.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial capacity is required.
- Background in energy, gasification, or power generation environments is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Deep working knowledge of RCM, RCA, FMEA, and maintenance strategy development.
- Hands-on exposure to rotating machinery and other high-value industrial assets.
- Experience using CMMS/APM platforms such as SAP or Maximo.
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance and AI/IoT-enabled monitoring solutions.
- Strong ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
