Position Overview
The Railcar Inspector/Prep role is focused on cleaning and checking railcars so they are ready for transport. The work combines hands-on preparation, basic inspection, and safe handling of equipment in a fast-moving environment.
Work Location and Schedule
This position is based in Vance, Alabama. The shift begins at 4:30 AM, and the schedule may require working up to 6 days per week.
Compensation
Pay starts at $17.00 per hour.
Key Duties
- Follow all safety rules, operating practices, and customer, company, and industry requirements.
- Check railcar end doors and help open and close them as needed.
- Look over railcars for signs of wear, damage, or fatigue.
- Spot repair needs that can be handled by Road & Rail Services.
- Use backpack blowers and scraping tools to clear away debris and contaminants that could lead to vehicle damage.
- Keep assigned tools and equipment accounted for and properly maintained.
- Carry out housekeeping and general cleanup tasks assigned by management.
