The company is a small, highly experienced team of operators backed by top-tier investors and has already seen successful exits. It is now hiring a senior QA engineer to become the second person on the QA team and work with the current QA engineer to strengthen and scale quality assurance.
Role impact
This position is central to improving testing practices, lowering defect rates, and ensuring members receive an outstanding product experience.
Location and working arrangement
The role is remote with a working overlap of approximately +/- 2 hours from London time. Occasional travel to London is required, with frequent trips expected. The selected candidate must spend at least one week each month in London with the team from the start date and should be willing to relocate to London fully within six months of joining.
Compensation and rewards
The salary range is $90,000 to $110,000, and the role also includes meaningful equity.
Responsibilities
- Help strengthen Aurora’s quality assurance function by partnering with the existing QA engineer.
- Improve test coverage and quality-control processes across the product.
- Reduce defects through thorough validation and careful release testing.
- Assess web apps, mobile apps, APIs, and end-to-end user journeys with close attention to edge cases and business logic.
- Build and maintain API automation suites, including contract checks, authentication scenarios, data validation, and multi-step workflows.
- Create and maintain reliable web automation frameworks integrated into CI/CD workflows.
- Design automated checks for non-deterministic systems such as AI/LLM features, async pipelines, and event-driven flows.
- Document testing processes clearly and keep QA knowledge easy to understand and up to date.
Requirements
- Strong background in manual testing across web, mobile, and API surfaces.
- Practical experience creating and maintaining API automation with tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
- Hands-on experience building automated web test suites with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Proven ability to test outputs that may vary between runs, including AI-powered or agentic workflows.
- Excellent documentation and technical writing ability.
- Ability to prioritize effectively, stay focused, and deliver efficiently without sacrificing quality.
- Comfort working quickly in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to mobile automation tools such as Appium, Espresso, or XCUITest.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD practices and how they support QA pipelines.
- Familiarity with LLM evaluation tools or approaches such as LangSmith, Braintrust, Promptfoo, or DeepEval.
