Role overview

This is a full-time, on-site Interior Designer position in Glen Iris, Victoria. The role spans residential and commercial projects and involves taking part in concept work, space planning, and the preparation of design documentation. You will help develop drawings and presentations, choose finishes and fixtures, coordinate FF&E schedules, and support the alignment of architectural and interior design elements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key duties

• Contribute to early-stage concept development and spatial planning for interior projects.
• Prepare drawings, presentations, and supporting design material for clients and project teams.
• Select and document finishes, fixtures, furnishings, and equipment in line with the design direction and budget.
• Coordinate FF&E schedules and help maintain consistency across project documentation.
• Work closely with architects, consultants, and suppliers to progress design solutions.
• Attend site visits and assist in ensuring the design intent is carried through to delivery.
• Support project administration tasks, maintain organized project files, and assist with communication of design ideas to clients.
• Take part in design reviews and help refine project outcomes through collaboration and feedback.

What the role requires

• Strong background in interior design and architecture, with the ability to combine interior concepts with architectural detailing.
• A minimum of 5 years of full-time experience in interior design at a mid-level capacity.
• Solid space planning ability, including circulation planning, functional layouts, and efficient use of interior areas.
• Capability to produce construction drawings and technical documentation for consultants, contractors, and approvals.
• Experience specifying FF&E, including finishes, furniture, lighting, and equipment while staying within project budgets.
• Proficiency in Revit, with at least 4 to 5 years of full-time use, plus Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and related 3D visualization tools.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Strong visual communication skills, including sketching, mood boards, and digital presentation methods.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
• Understanding of Australian building codes, standards, and documentation processes; familiarity with the Melbourne market is an advantage.
