Role overview
Sezzle is hiring a Manager, Regulatory Reporting to lead bank-focused regulatory reporting as the company expands its banking operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can create the reporting function from the ground up, establish controls and processes, and act as the primary expert for bank regulatory filings.
The person in this role will be responsible for accurate, timely, and compliant submissions, working closely with Finance, Legal, Compliance, executive stakeholders, and other internal teams. The position offers the chance to build scalable reporting infrastructure in a fast-moving environment with room for broader ownership over time.
Key responsibilities
- Take full ownership of bank regulatory reporting, including preparation and submission of FFIEC Call Reports (031/041/051) and other filings required by the OCC, FDIC, and related regulators.
- Create and continuously improve the reporting structure, such as filing calendars, data collection processes, reconciliations, and control checks that support completeness and accuracy.
- Apply FFIEC, OCC, FDIC, and Federal Reserve guidance to Sezzle’s business model, including proper treatment of BNPL-related assets, liabilities, income, and capital.
- Track updates to reporting rules and adapt processes for revised schedules, thresholds, and interpretive changes.
- Work across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Engineering to gather data, solve reporting issues, and align regulatory submissions with GAAP financial statements.
- Support audits and supervisory reviews by preparing documentation, answering regulator questions, and addressing any findings or follow-up items.
- Coordinate with external auditors and consultants on reporting matters, including agreed-upon procedures and attestation work.
- Document policies, procedures, and methodologies to strengthen SOX compliance and preserve institutional knowledge.
- Use technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve the speed, reliability, and scalability of reporting workflows, including aggregation, validation, and submission tasks.
- Advise leadership on how new products, strategic decisions, and banking changes may affect financial and regulatory reporting.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in bank regulatory reporting, with direct responsibility for preparing and filing FFIEC Call Reports.
- Strong knowledge of FFIEC instructions, reporting schedules, and regulatory capital calculations.
- Experience with OCC-supervised national banks or de novo bank reporting is a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and the ability to reconcile GAAP reporting with regulatory frameworks.
- Proven ability to create or materially improve reporting processes, internal controls, and supporting infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with regulatory reporting systems or platforms, plus advanced Excel skills; data visualization or automation experience is beneficial.
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with a history of submitting audit- and exam-ready reports.
- Strong communication ability to explain complex reporting requirements to non-technical and cross-functional partners.
- CPA, CFA, or another relevant professional certification is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
- Experience using Claude or a similar large language model tool is required; candidates should be comfortable using AI to support productivity, research, and communication.
Preferred background

- Prior work in fintech, payments, or other high-growth technology companies.
- Experience implementing or managing regulatory reporting systems such as Axiom, Wolters Kluwer, or similar tools.

- Comfortable challenging old ways of working and finding better approaches.
- Moves quickly, makes pragmatic decisions, and is willing to take calculated risks.
- Builds trust through respectful, candid communication and active listening.
