Role Overview
This full-time nanny opportunity is based in Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond, WA, and is designed for someone who enjoys a flexible, child-focused workday. The role is part of a backup nanny team that supports multiple families as needed, with both full-time and part-time openings available. It is a strong fit for people with childcare experience who want a smaller, home-based setting and a schedule that can work around school, family, or another job.
Ideal candidates may have experience as a babysitter, daycare staff member, nanny, or church nursery volunteer. Retired teachers or teaching professionals looking for a more personal environment are also encouraged to consider the position.
What the Job Involves
As a back-up nanny, you will provide in-home childcare for children ranging from infants to toddlers, with especially high demand for care for children under 2 years old. Transportation of children is not part of the role, and you will not be responsible for household chores beyond basic tidying related to activities or meals with the child.
The work centers on keeping children safe, engaged, and active through hands-on play and age-appropriate activities tailored to their developmental stage.
Working Conditions
The environment is active and child-oriented. Some time may be spent outdoors when weather allows, and the day may include active play. The role also involves regular cleanup connected to the activities you lead.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, and lifting. You must be able to lift up to 35 pounds safely, move from the floor to standing and back multiple times during the day, and respond quickly when situations call for it. In urgent moments, you should be able to act calmly, effectively, and safely.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay is $20 to $25 per hour. The employer provides paid training and a nanny kit filled with age-appropriate games and activities to use during assignments.
Full-time employees may be eligible for benefits that can include a medical stipend, paid vacation, paid holidays, student loan repayment matching funds, or retirement savings matching funds. Additional opportunities include advancement within childcare and preferred placement opportunities for families looking for one consistent nanny, either full-time or part-time. Strong feedback may also lead to bonuses, contests, gift cards, and extra cash.
Candidate Profile
The role is open to applicants who are at least 18 years old and have experience working with children, whether paid or unpaid. Infant experience is required. A reliable vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel to different homes throughout the area are also necessary.
Availability is expected Monday through Friday for 6 to 8 hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
Additional Information
This role is part of an on-call team that values flexibility, creativity, engagement, and a fun approach to childcare.
