About the Role
This is a full-time remote opportunity for a highly organized and clear communicator who can support pharmacy operations by acting as a connection point between physician offices, patients, and internal pharmacy teams. The role centers on handling incoming and outgoing communication, managing image-based documents, building patient profiles and referrals in pharmacy systems, and keeping records accurate and well organized. The person in this role will also help maintain smooth day-to-day operations by responding to questions, routing calls, following up on prescription matters, and supporting pharmacy care teams with disease-state-related needs.
Qualifications
- An active pharmacy technician registration issued by the State Board of Pharmacy is required.
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, sales, marketing, computer science, or a similar field is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience may be accepted.
- At least 3 years of experience in a healthcare call center, pharmacy/physician office, or social services setting is expected.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access is needed.
- Good time management, strong organization, and the ability to work independently are important.
- The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to learn quickly.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and document handling processes is required.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with physician offices in a professional manner through both spoken and written channels.
- Review incoming image documents, organize them properly, and attach them in pharmacy management systems.
- Follow the correct process for each document and program requirement when creating patient profiles and referrals.
- Answer the main pharmacy phone line, transfer calls appropriately, and handle inbound inquiries promptly.
- Record clarification requests, follow-ups, and status updates in Pathpoint Rx/ScriptMed accurately.
- Resolve internal questions within the required timeframe.
- Place outbound calls to physician offices for prescription refills and clarification follow-ups.
- Check written refill requests and prescription clarifications for completeness and accuracy.
- Work in line with all applicable policies, procedures, safety standards, and regulations.
- Support patients and Pharmacy Care Coordinators with therapy-related and pharmacy care concerns, taking disease-specific needs into account.
- Take on other assigned tasks that help pharmacy operations and patient care.
