Role overview
Orbital Critical Systems, part of the CAF Group, works in safety-critical software for aerospace, defence, and transport. The company is hiring Data Analysts for on-site roles in Germany to support data-focused work on Airbus-related aerospace and defence initiatives.
Location
The role is based in the Finkenwerder and Hamburg area, Hamburg, Germany.
What you will do
- Investigate and build inverse design methods using data-driven and machine learning techniques to speed up the development of advanced materials.
- Create material solutions from performance targets so that repeated optimisation cycles can be reduced.
- Identify, shape, and present research initiatives in composite materials and coating technologies, in line with the Central Research & Technology roadmap.
- Carry out scientific R&D work independently within an international, cross-border organization.
- Work closely with universities, academic institutions, research centers, industry partners, and start-ups.
- Engage with the broader materials and surface technology community to help maintain leadership in inverse design methods.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate should have a background in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science, or a related subject. A strong interest in, or practical exposure to, data-driven modelling, machine learning, or inverse design methods is important. Experience with composite materials and/or coating technologies is considered an advantage. The role also requires Python, data analysis, and scientific computing skills. A C1 level of English is mandatory, and German would be a strong asset. Applicants must hold citizenship of a European country.
Compensation and support
The offered salary is between €60,000 and €70,000. The company provides help with accommodation search, German language training, full relocation support, and administrative assistance. It also covers the German tax return for the first year. This is a permanent German contract linked to long-term projects.
