About the role
Tesco is looking for Customer Delivery Drivers to join its team in Kilrush. This role is the first point of contact for customers and plays an important part in delivering a smooth home-shopping experience. The work is active, varied, and hands-on, with each shift bringing different delivery situations. Although you will spend much of the day working independently on the road, support will always be available from managers and colleagues at the base.
Shift pattern: Various shifts are available. The role is offered as a permanent position with 30–35 hours per week, and contracts may vary between 20 and 39 hours weekly.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure every customer receives a high-quality home delivery experience and keep the customer at the centre of the service.
- Load the van when needed and carry out checks to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy.
- Follow the planned schedule and route assigned for each shift.
- Represent the company professionally by wearing the correct uniform and being ready to assist customers.
- Drive safely, responsibly, and in line with road traffic laws.
- Show courtesy and respect to all other road users.
- Greet customers warmly, including using their name where appropriate.
- Handle deliveries carefully and treat each order as though it were your own.
Requirements
- A full Irish or EU driving licence, manual or automatic, held for at least 2 years.
- No more than 3 penalty points on the licence.
- A safe, considerate, and responsible driving style.
- A genuine interest in helping others.
- Good communication skills, a personable manner, and a sense of humour.
- The confidence to use common sense and take initiative when needed.
- A customer-focused attitude and a willingness to make a positive difference for customers and colleagues.
- The ability to stay composed when under pressure.
Additional information
Job offers are subject to Garda Vetting. During assessment, candidates must provide proof of their current penalty points, which can be requested from the National Driver Licence Services (NDLS) by calling 1890 41 61 41, selecting Option 4, and quoting the driver number. Applications cannot be accepted from anyone who has been disqualified from driving within the last 10 years.
If successful, candidates must provide bank account details before the agreed start date, as the offer will be conditional on this requirement.
