Customer Delivery Driver - Dereham Extra

About the role

As Tesco’s representative at the customer’s doorstep, this position combines driving with personal service. You will deliver shopping directly to customers’ homes, ensuring each interaction is friendly, reliable, and professional.

The work is active, practical, and varied, with each shift bringing something different. You will spend much of the day working on your own, while still being supported by managers and colleagues based at the store when needed.

Pay begins at £14.18 per hour, and increases to £15.45 per hour in stores inside the M25. Some locations may include extra payments. A minimum of 16 hours per week is guaranteed, although 12-hour roles are also available.

Availability window

The advertised working availability is:

• Sunday: 09:00 to 19:00
• Tuesday: 10:00 to 13:30
• Thursday: 10:00 to 13:30
• Saturday: 09:00 to 19:00

Key duties

You will be expected to keep the vehicle, trays, and working area clean, orderly, and ready so that every delivery reaches the customer in excellent condition.

Safe loading and full vehicle checks will be part of your routine to ensure the van remains roadworthy, dependable, and prepared to provide strong service.

You will also speak with customers about substitutions, changes to their order, and short-dated items in a helpful, calm manner, arranging refunds where required to keep the experience smooth.

Careful handling of all products is essential, with every order treated as though it were your own to preserve quality and customer confidence.

Deliveries must be completed within the customer’s chosen time slot, alongside a warm and natural doorstep service that leaves customers feeling respected and well served.

What you need

This role calls for someone who can work closely with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment while delivering strong service to customers.

You should be approachable, welcoming, and comfortable interacting with both customers and fellow colleagues.

Because the work changes throughout the day, you must be able to adapt quickly to shifting customer needs and to changes in both the store and road environment.

A valid UK, EU, or EEA driving licence is required, either full or automatic, held for at least 12 months and with no more than 3 penalty points.
