Custodian

Position Overview

This role is responsible for maintaining campus facilities in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. The position is based at Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Work Schedule

The regular schedule is Monday through Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed.

Appointment Type

This is a regular, continuous position that remains open until further notice.

Compensation

The hiring rate is between $11.03 and $12.42 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Keep campus buildings and facilities in a sanitary and safe condition.

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates should have prior experience working as a general custodian, along with a demonstrated record of ethical and professional conduct. Familiarity with custodial tools, equipment, and supplies is also expected.

Licensing

If the job duties require use of a personal or university vehicle, an Oklahoma driver’s license will be necessary.

Skills and Physical Requirements

The role calls for the ability to work independently, manage several tasks at once, and remain productive with little supervision. Applicants must be able to read MSDS documents and follow departmental instructions. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and regularly standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs. Full use of all limbs is required.

Communication Requirements

Strong reading and writing ability is needed, along with clear communication, a professional and positive attitude, good listening skills, and responsiveness to customers.
