About the role

This opportunity is for a Creative Media Tutor based in Christchurch CBD. It is a full-time, fixed-term, on-site position that ends on 29 January 2027. The tutor will deliver the Certificate in Creative Media (Level 4) and support students as they build confidence, technical capability, and creative thinking for further study or entry-level creative roles.

What you will do

• Create and deliver engaging lesson plans and teaching resources that align with the programme curriculum.
• Lead classroom conversations and practical activities that encourage active participation.
• Give students clear, constructive feedback on assignments and creative projects.
• Track learner progress and keep accurate records of performance.
• Work with other tutors and programme staff to maintain consistent, high-quality teaching.
• Keep current with new creative media trends, methods, and software tools.
• Build a welcoming, inclusive classroom culture that supports creativity and critical thinking.

What we are looking for

The ideal applicant will have a tertiary qualification in creative media, design, visual communication, or a closely related area, along with significant industry experience. Strong communication and interpersonal ability is essential, and experience in teaching, tutoring, training, or mentoring will be an advantage.

You should be capable of supporting learners from diverse backgrounds and committed to student success and wellbeing. A solid understanding of creative media fundamentals, including visual communication and foundational design principles, is required. You will also need practical experience creating digital content for print and screen, confidence using industry-standard creative software, and knowledge of production workflows, file preparation, and professional presentation standards. A commitment to tikanga, kawa, and respect for te reo Māori is also expected.
