SBI Canada Bank is a Schedule II bank and a subsidiary of State Bank of India. Operating in Canada since 1982, it offers retail and corporate banking services and continues to expand its digital banking presence, branch network, and partnerships across Ontario and British Columbia.
Work Location and Schedule
This position is based in Downtown Toronto in the Financial District. It requires on-site attendance five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Controller will oversee the accuracy of core financial statements and related reporting, including the trial balance, balance sheet, income statement, and deposit/loan records.
The role includes building strategic and annual business plans, preparing financial forecasts under different scenarios, and carrying out detailed analysis to support decision-making.
It also involves managing tax compliance activities such as direct and indirect tax filings, annual returns, monthly withholding tax payments, and handling CRA audits.
Another major part of the role is coordinating FATCA and CRS reporting obligations with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Additional duties include preparing and filing regulatory submissions for the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Statistics Canada, and the Bank of Canada, as well as maintaining reporting to the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation to support compliance with the CDIC Act.
The controller will also oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to the parent bank, and ensure adherence to OSFI Liquidity Adequacy Requirements and Capital Adequacy Requirements.
Responsibility extends to managing reporting under IFRS, establishing and updating accounting policies and procedures, and ensuring consistent application across the bank.
The role includes monitoring internal and external risk and compliance requirements, supporting satisfactory results in audits and reviews, and managing finance team members in their day-to-day work.
As needed, the Finance Controller will also support the CFO with special projects and additional reporting assignments.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation package includes a competitive base salary along with an annual bonus opportunity. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and mental health coverage, paid time off, and concessional banking benefits.
