The Role
Hind Management is hiring a Chef de Partie for the busy kitchen at Sudima Christchurch Airport Hotel in Christchurch, Canterbury. This position supports the Head Chef in a fast-paced restaurant environment that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with conferencing functions. Strong cooking standards, solid technique, and a willingness to contribute fresh ideas are important for success in this role.
This is a permanent full-time position with a guaranteed minimum of 32 hours each week. The pay rate is $30.50 per hour.
Key Duties
- Prepare and produce food for service.
- Make sure dishes are cooked, presented, and finished according to kitchen recipes, standards, and techniques.
- Help reduce food waste by using efficient preparation practices.
- Store and handle food in line with current health, hygiene, and sanitation requirements.
- Keep the workstation, equipment, and assigned section clean and orderly throughout the shift.
- Work according to guidance from senior chefs.
- Contribute to delivering a dining experience that meets or exceeds guest expectations and supports the hotel’s reputation for consistent, good-value cuisine.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant should have prior experience working as a Chef de Partie or Demi Chef in a busy à la carte kitchen. You must be comfortable working rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights, and public holidays. The role also calls for clear communication, teamwork, a guest-friendly manner, quick problem-solving, good planning and delegation, awareness of current cooking trends, and familiarity with sanitation standards. A culinary qualification is preferred, though not mandatory. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
