Role overview

This part-time hourly position sits in the Employment Services department and reports to the Director of Employment Services. There are no direct reports for this role. The schedule is variable, with 20+ hours per week.

The job is centered on helping students with disabilities build career direction, strengthen job readiness, and move toward meaningful employment through partnerships with schools, families, community organizations, and service providers.

What you will do

  • Guide students as they identify career interests and set employment goals.
  • Support the creation of internships and other work-based learning options.
  • Deliver pre-employment transition services both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Help students strengthen workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and self-determination skills.
  • Assist students and families in finding resources and understanding available services.
  • Act as the main contact for assigned schools.
  • Work closely with school personnel, Vocational Rehabilitation staff, and community partners.
  • Participate in transition planning, case conferences, and IEP meetings when needed.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with students, families, educators, and service providers.
  • Support the rollout of Supported Employment and Placement Assistance programs.
  • Help determine and arrange workplace accommodations and supports.
  • Demonstrate strong practices in career planning, job development, and workplace training.
  • Serve as a connector between students, families, VR services, and employment providers.
  • Promote informed decision-making and access to suitable service providers.
  • Coordinate with community organizations to expand support for students and families.
  • Keep service documentation, reports, schedules, and time records accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor student progress and employment/transition outcomes.

What we are looking for

  • Strong communication, organization, and people skills.
  • Ability to work on your own and manage a changing schedule.
  • Prior experience with students or individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Background in transition services, workforce development, or education systems is preferred.
  • Ability to develop trust and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Good problem-solving and advocacy capabilities.
  • Comfort using basic digital tools such as Google Workspace and documentation systems.
  • Willingness to travel locally and anywhere in the state as required.
  • Ability to work outside standard hours when school and student needs call for it.
  • Regular movement between school, community, and office environments.
  • Valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proof of insurance.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification.
  • Certified Restraint Training.
  • Core B certification.
  • Completion of required agency and regulatory trainings, including Human Rights, Safety, and Medication Administration.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree in human services.
  • Experience in special education, supported employment, or transition service delivery is preferred.
