Area Manager

Role overview

This position is for an Area Manager in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, responsible for driving territory performance, leading field teams, and strengthening market execution across the assigned area.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver monthly and annual targets for product-wise and value-wise sales across both primary and secondary channels in the assigned territory.
• Build and sustain effective relationships with doctors, retailers, stockists, and other important stakeholders through customer engagement activities that align with company direction.
• Review team and area performance on a regular basis and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Create and execute corrective action plans to support consistent business growth.
• Spot capability gaps in the team and arrange suitable training and development interventions.
• Make sure the area follows the company’s credit norms without exception.
• Track receivables and outstanding amounts closely to reduce financial exposure.
• Ensure Medical Executives and Medical Trainees are recruited and onboarded on time, following company standards, so sales activities are not interrupted.
• Supervise field work carried out by Medical Executives and Medical Trainees and ensure daily reports are submitted on schedule.
• Support execution of company plans by coaching and directing team members in the field.
• Collect and share market insights on industry movements, competitor actions, and promotional efforts to support business decisions.
• Address team issues quickly and effectively.
• Escalate unresolved matters to the reporting manager and head office whenever required to avoid operational delays.

Experience required

The role calls for 8 to 10 years of overall work experience, including at least 2 years in a first-line manager position.

Education required

Graduation is required. A postgraduate qualification in Pharmacy is also specified.
